In 2004, the Krotje family moved the growing business to Shelbyville, Tennessee to take advantage of better climate, friendly community, and the lush, open environment around Bomar Field, a perfect place for flight testing new aircraft. Since the first J250-SP was delivered in 2005, over 100 Jabiru Special Light-Sport Aircraft have been built and flown in Shelbyville by the Krotjes and their team of highly-trained craftsmen and airframe & powerplant mechanics. Each aircraft is hand-built to order from Australian raw fiberglass airframe components over a period of about 850 man-hours. In addition to new aircraft construction, Jabiru USA offers full maintenance support for their aircraft and engine customers, including annual inspections, engine rebuilding, and Jabiru airframe repair facilities.
